Act of British Columbia. An employee, on their written request supported by a certificate of a medical practitioner stating that the employee is pregnant and estimating the probable date of birth of a child, is entitled to a leave of absence from work, without pay, for a period of 18 consecutive weeks or a shorter period if the employee requests, commencing 11 weeks immediately before the estimated date of birth or a later time the employee requests.
