Allocation of employment relations education leave to eligible employee (a) Employment relations education leave is allocated to an eligible employee by giving a notice to the employee, and a copy of the notice to the employee’s employer, that informs the employee: (i) that NZEI has allocated employment relations education leave to the employee (ii) of the number of days of employment relations education leave allocated to the employee (iii) that the employee must take the employment relations education leave by the end of the year in which it is allocated (iv) of the terms or effect of 7 and 8. (b) The allocation of employment relations education leave does not, of itself, entitle the employee to take the leave.

Allocation of employment. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Agreement, it is agreed that the Employer, in allocating available work, will not schedule more than thirty-seven (37) hours of work to any employee in any work week. It is understood that an employee is not entitled to be scheduled for partial shifts in order to increase his scheduled hours to thirty-seven (37) in a week. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Employer may schedule an employee who is allocated available work opportunities pursuant to Article 15(d) more than the maximum thirty- seven (37) hours in the week if, because of the available shifts, this is the only way of meeting the employees requested maximum hours. (b) Each year, two (2) weeks prior to the start of each Meet, each Seniority List employee must complete and submit an “Area Selection Preference Sheet” indicating up to three (3) preferences for work areas. The “Area Selection Preference Sheet” will remain in effect until the start of the following Meet. If no preference sheet is filed within the allotted time frame, he is deemed to have the same preferences as the previous year. No change in selection may be made after the submission deadline. New areas opening subsequent to the annual filing of the “Area Selection Preference Sheet” will be posted. Copies of all Area Selection Preference Sheets shall be given to the Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ for review and verification purposes no less than one (1) week prior to implementation. (c) Two (2) times a year, two (2) weeks prior to the start of each Meet, each Seniority List employee may complete and submit a “Work Allocation Preference Sheet” indicating his preference(s) for days of the week, shift type(s) and classification(s). The “Work Allocation Preference Sheet” will remain in effect until the next “Work Allocation Preference Sheet” comes into effect at the beginning of the following Meet. If no preference sheet is filed within the allotted time frame, he is deemed to have the same preference as the previous meet.

  • Duration of Employment 5.1 A seafarer shall be engaged for the period specified in Appendix 1 to this Agreement and such period may be extended or reduced by the amount shown in Appendix 1 for operational convenience. The employment shall be automatically terminated upon the terms of this Agreement at the first arrival of the ship in port after expiration of that period, unless the Company operates a permanent employment system.
