AND EXTENT OF AUTHORITY. Compliance with the Local Government Act 2020, Regulations and other relevant legislation and Council policies, delegations and budgets and support the transition from the 1989 Act • Coordinate, develop and maintain effective Governance administration services for Council • Providing advice on administrative and statutory processes of Council • The achievement of goals, objectives and policies set by Council relative to the position • Advance planning, policy development, utilisation of resources and contract administration relative to the position • Ensuring the development and continuing review of the organisation’s policies and procedures • The provision of accurate, timely and meaningful advice to the Chief Executive Officer, Councillors, Executive Management Team and staff • Ensuring that good governance and risk management procedures are in place and adhered to • Acting in accordance with instrument of sub-delegation • The Officer is accountable to the Executive Manager People & Governance for providing accurate, effective and customer focused support to meet the needs of the Council • The position allows the officer the authority to make decisions about the implementation of appropriate work practices to achieve the objectives and responsibilities of this position • The officer has the authority required to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position in accordance with established procedures, business rules and standards. Extensive freedom to initiate changes to policy, procedures and practices is encouraged and will be undertaken with the approval of the Executive Manager People & Governance. • The degree of power and freedom to act. Subject to and within the framework of the provisions of relevant legislation and statutory requirements and Council’s policies and procedures, the incumbent has the authority to provide advice and assistance to management and staff in accordance with: the Council Plan; relevant human resources, industrial relations, and anti-discrimination legislation; relevant Awards and certified agreements; Council’s policies and procedures; and accepted organisation standards.
