APPOINTMENT TO A POSITION. IN A HIGHER LEVEL CLASSIFICATION The Employee's current salary and step will normally increase to the lowest step value in the higher level classification which will result in an increase no less than the value of one step in the lower level classification. However, if the Employee's current salary is greater than the salary for the Employee's step in the lower level classification, the Employee's step in the higher level classification shall be determined using the provisions of this clause as if the Employee's salary were equal to the salary for the Employee's step in the lower level classification. The Employee's current salary shall, if necessary, be increased to the salary for the step so determined in the higher level classification.
