Appropriation Clause Samples

The Appropriation clause defines the right of a party, typically a lender or secured creditor, to allocate payments or assets received from a debtor towards specific debts or obligations. In practice, this means that if a debtor owes multiple debts to the same creditor, the creditor can decide which debt a particular payment will be applied to, unless the debtor specifies otherwise. This clause is essential for managing the order of debt repayment, ensuring that creditors can prioritize the satisfaction of certain obligations, and helps prevent disputes over how payments are credited.
