Common use of Assignment and Subletting by Tenant Clause in Contracts

Assignment and Subletting by Tenant. Tenant may not assign its interest in this Lease or sublet the whole or any part of the Premises without the prior consent of Landlord, which consent shall be in Landlord’s sole discretion. If the event Landlord approves and assignment or sublet, Tenant will remain primarily liable and responsible under this Lease in the event of any assignment or sublease and will not be released from its obligations under this Lease. Any assignment of this Lease or subletting of the Premises without notification to Landlord will not be effective as to Landlord and Landlord will not be bound thereby until receipt of the notification. Any assignment of this Lease or subletting of the Premises for an unlawful or prohibited use or a use restricted by matters of title will be void and of no force and effect.
