Association Business Leave Pool Sample Clauses

The Association Business Leave Pool clause establishes a system that allows employees to collectively allocate a certain amount of leave time for use on association-related business. Typically, this pool is managed by the association or union, and employees may contribute a portion of their personal leave or be granted additional days specifically for union activities, such as attending meetings or conferences. The core function of this clause is to ensure that employees can participate in association business without sacrificing their own accrued leave, thereby supporting union operations and protecting employees' rights to representation.
Association Business Leave Pool. A. Each year at the beginning of the first pay period of the calendar year, the City will allocate 6000 hours of equivalent work-time hours to be utilized as Association Business Leave (“ABL”), and allocated to an agreed Association Business Leave Pool (“ABLP”). Each year at the end of the last pay period of the calendar year during this Agreement, unused ABL will carry over to the next year. B. Notwithstanding Sections 142.0013(b) and (d) and 143.3015(i) of the TLGC, the vacation leave accrual for each Officer will be reduced by three (3) hours annually, at the beginning of the first pay period of the calendar year. The vacation accrual rates which will apply for Officers under this Agreement are provided in Appendix B. This section preempts TLGC Sections 142.0013 (b and d). C. The ABLP may be utilized starting at the beginning of the first pay period of the calendar year. The Association shall be allowed to debit the ABLP on an hour-for-hour basis, during the calendar year when the Association Board members and/or members of the Association’s Meet and Confer negotiating team are required to engage in Association business activities. ABL is only available for Association Board members, Association Meet and Confer negotiating team members, Peer Representatives, and the President unless an exception is granted by the Chief. The Association will inform the Chief and the Civil Service Director of the names of these members so that use of ABL can be permitted in the City’s Human Resource Information System. If the Chief declares an emergency, he or she may order the Association President or any Association Officers on ABL to report to work for the duration of the emergency. D. The Association may request the use of ABL for Association business activities upon five (5) business days advance written notification to and approval by the Chief. Regular Association business activities are defined as time spent: (a) representing members at disciplinary hearings (to the extent permitted by law or allowed by Department policy) or grievance meetings;
Association Business Leave Pool. At the beginning of the first pay period of each calendar year during this Agreement, the City will allocate 1684 hours of equivalent work-time hours to be utilized for an agreed Association Business Leave (“ABL”) Pool (the “Pool”). At the end of each calendar year during this Agreement, unused ABL hours up to 425 will carry over and must be used prior to the end of the next payroll year. All allocations must be used on a first-in, first-out basis. ABL shall be charged to the Pool at the rate of one (1:1) hours contributed to the Pool for every one (1) hour used based on the employee’s work schedule leave accrual. If the Chief declares an emergency, he or she may order the Association President or any Association fire fighters on Association Business Leave time to report to work for the duration of the emergency. ABL will be counted as hours worked for the purpose of calculating overtime. ABL hours may be used for the following: (a) representing members at a disciplinary hearing (to the extent such representation is permitted by law, or in this Agreement, and allowed by Department policy) or grievance meetings; (b) administering the terms of this Agreement; (c) attending meetings of the Association’s Executive Board; (d) attending regular business meetings of the Association; (e) attending other Association meetings, training programs, seminars, workshops, and conferences, and (f) for the time an Association negotiating team member spends preparing for, traveling to and from and attending formally scheduled collective bargaining negotiating sessions with the City. ABL hours may not be used unless a member is scheduled to work. All Association Business leave must be posted on Telestaff in accordance with the timelines regarding vacation leave. Association Business Leave shall not be subject to vacation quotas.

Association Business Leave Pool. At retirement a police officer having more than 720 hours of accrued sick leave may make a donation of up to 80 hours of sick leave. Both Parties agree that the usage of ABL by Association members will be capped at five hundred (500) hours per year. The ABLP may be charged on an hour-for-hour basis when Association Board members and/or members of the Association attend regular Association business activities, as long as the ABLP has a positive balance. Regular Association business activities are defined as time spent at training programs, seminars, workshops, conferences or events. The Association may request the use of ABL for Association business activities upon two (2) working days advance electronic or written notification to the Chief. Such requests will not be unreasonably denied. The City will keep an accounting of the hours accrued and hours used. A report will be provided of the used and unused hours to the Chief and the Association President every six (6) months.

  • Association Business Leave A total of ten (10) days Association Business Leave shall be allowed by the district on condition that a competent qualified substitute employee is available and willing to serve. The designated representative of the Association and officers of the Association shall be allowed to take such leave for conducting Association Business or to attend state or local conferences. Substitutes hired by the District to cover such absences shall be paid for by the Association. At least five (5) normal business days advance notification of intent to take such leave shall be given to the Superintendent by the Association President.

  • Union Business Leave ‌ 1. The officers and representatives of the Union are as follows: President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Stewards. The President of the Union shall provide the City with a roster of officers and representatives and keep the City informed of any changes in that roster. 2. Up to three (3) representatives of the Union shall be allowed time off for negotiations or conferences with City Officials, without loss of pay or benefits, provided that the City’s operations shall always take priority over other business. Off-duty personnel will not be compensated for such negotiations, conferences or hearings. 3. Officers of the Union shall be granted time off, without loss of pay, to conduct union business that cannot be conducted during off-duty time. 4. Officers and/or representatives of the Union shall be granted time off, without loss of pay, to attend training classes without loss of pay or benefits to further management-employee relations. 5. The number of days off with pay and benefits under paragraphs 3 and 4 shall not exceed an aggregate of four (4) days for the entire bargaining unit per calendar year. All requests for leave pursuant to paragraphs 3 and 4 shall be submitted in writing to the City Manager no less than ten (10) working days prior to the date of the requested leave. 6. Any Officer or ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ of the Union shall be allowed to investigate any situation/issue brought to his/her attention by either union members or management. If the nature of the issue is such that expedited handling will result in prompt disposition thereof without interference to department operations then management shall allow the Officer/▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ to investigate the matter while on duty, provided that City operations will always take priority over other business. It is further understood that time spent by Officers/Stewards on Union related matters while off duty is non-compensable. Time spent by Officers/Stewards processing matters through the grievance procedure, attending disciplinary sessions with supervisors, and attending disciplinary and/or administrative hearings before appropriate authorities shall only be paid during their regularly scheduled workweek. 7. Staff representatives of the Union shall be allowed to meet with employees during unpaid lunch and/or coffee breaks to the degree the meetings do not disrupt the workplace.

  • Business Leave Each teacher shall be allowed five (5) days* per year non-accumulative, deducted from sick leave allowance, for employee absence due to emergency, business, professional, household, or personal matters that cannot be attended to outside of working hours. Prior approval must be given by the administration with the exception of emergencies. The use of business leave will be allowed immediately preceding or following a school holiday, provided a substitute is available.   • Association Business Duly authorized representatives of the Association shall be permitted to transact official Association business on school property at all reasonable times provided that such activities shall not interfere with normal school operations.

  • Leave for Association Business The Hospital agrees to grant leaves of absence, without pay, to nurses selected by the Association to attend Association business including conferences, conventions and Provincial Committee meetings and to any nurse elected to the position of Local Co-ordinator. The cumulative total leave of absence, the amount of notice, the number of nurses that may be absent at any time from one area and the number of days (including those of the Local Co-ordinator) is set out in the Appendix of Local Provisions. During such leave of absence, a nurse's salary and applicable benefits or percentage in lieu of fringe benefits shall be maintained by the Hospital and the local Association agrees to reimburse the Hospital in the amount of the daily rate of the full-time nurse or in the amount of the full cost of such salary and percentage in lieu of fringe benefits of a part-time nurse except for Provincial Committee meetings which will be reimbursed by the Association. The Hospital will bill the local Association within a reasonable period of time. Part-time nurses will receive service and seniority credit for all leaves granted under this Article.
