It has approximately 8,000 officers, responsible for securing the UK border and controlling migration at 138 ports and airports across the UK and overseas. Border Force contributes to all three of the Home Office strategic objectives: 3.1.1 cut crime 3.1.2 reduce immigration 3.1.3 prevent terrorism 3.2 Border Force's strategic aim is: 3.2.1 To secure the United Kingdom's border and promote national prosperity. 3.3 The Home office is required to provide high quality, cost-effective equipment to enable Border Force to meet its strategic objectives.
