Baggage Delay. If your checked baggage is delayed by the common carrier for more than six (6) hours, during the trip en route to your destination and before returning to your original point of departure, you will be reimbursed up to $500 per insured person, to a maximum of $1,000 per trip for all insured persons combined, for the purchase of essential items. Purchases must be made within thirty-six (36) hours of your arrival at your destination. The costs of items purchased under this benefit will reduce the maximum amount payable under a) above if it is later determined that your personal baggage has been lost, stolen or damaged. This benefit is only available for your outbound travel; baggage delay is not available on your return travel back to your province or territory of residence.
