Base Course Clause Samples

The 'Base Course' clause defines the requirements and specifications for the layer of material placed between the subgrade and the surface pavement in construction projects. It typically outlines the type of materials to be used, compaction standards, thickness, and quality control measures necessary to ensure a stable foundation for the pavement above. By setting these standards, the clause ensures the durability and longevity of the finished surface, preventing future structural issues and providing a clear benchmark for construction quality.
Base Course. A layer of material of specified thickness on which the intermediate or surface course is placed.
Base Course. On the prepared sub-base, a gravel base course shall be laid to a consolidated depth of 450 mm for Collector Roads and 300 mm for Local Roads or as directed by the Engineer on approval of the design drawings.
Base Course. One or more layers of specified material of designed thickness placed on the subgrade or subbase.
Base Course. All base course items shall meet the requirements of the “Colorado Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction 2017” and as subsequently revised except as modified below. Base course will consist of a crushed naturally occurring rock material (no slag).
Base Course. The layer or layers of specified material placed on a Subbase or Subgrade to support a surface course. Bid. The offer or proposal of the Bidder submitted on the prescribed form setting forth the prices for the Work to be performed. Bidder. Any person, firm or corporation submitting a Bid for the Work.
Base Course. A. Material for base course shall be specified, provided, installed, and paid for under the work of the Division 31 SECTION, EARTH MOVING, of this Specification.
Base Course. A. Obtain base course material from approved sources with approved crusher equipment. Handle the materials in such a manner that secures a uniform and satisfactory product. Unless otherwise noted, crushed stone base course material shall conform to Class 7 Aggregate Base Course (SB-2) as described in Table 220.2.
