Basic Policy. Reduction in certified staff positions shall occur when it is the decision of the Board of Trustees of Whitepine Joint School District 288 when one or more of the following events have occurred: A. A substantial reduction in funds which will be available to the school district for maintenance and operation and such reduction cannot be avoided by exercise of the board's taxing powers. B. A substantial reduction in total pupil enrollment. C. The discontinuance by the Board of Trustees of a particular type of teaching service, class or course of study, provided that such discontinuance is not for discriminatory reasons. D. A significant reduction or elimination of categorical financial aide for specific programs offered by the district.
