Bump. Laid off employees, including bumped employees, shall be allowed to bump less senior employees (by bargaining unit seniority) within their department in lower classifications or in classifications which the employees previously held and are still competent to perform the work of the classification. The employee may bump to other departments only within their current classification or if they previously held the position and are still competent to perform the duties. Part-time regular employees shall have the option of remaining in the reduced position (if above the 20-hour threshold) or bumping in a lower classification, if competent. An employee who has bumped shall move to the highest step of the new range that does not exceed their current salary. If there is no employee in the next lower classification who is less senior than the person scheduled for layoff, that person may look progressively to the next lower classification for such bumping rights. The employee who is bumped by the affected employee shall have the same rights under this Article.
