Card Not Present Sample Clauses

The "Card Not Present" clause defines the rules and responsibilities for processing transactions where the physical payment card is not presented at the point of sale. This typically applies to online, phone, or mail order purchases, where merchants must rely on card information provided remotely. The clause often outlines verification procedures, liability for fraudulent transactions, and compliance requirements to reduce the risk of unauthorized use. Its core function is to allocate risk and establish clear protocols for handling these higher-risk transactions, thereby protecting both merchants and cardholders.
