Catastrophic Sick Day Program. The Association shall be permitted to solicit sick days from its members prior to October 1st of each school year to be used in the event that any member is stricken with a serious or sudden illness or injury. To qualify for this program, the stricken member must have accumulated a minimum of twenty (20) sick days before being afflicted. The Association will communicate the sick day need to its members in writing. Any member volunteering to donate sick days will agree in writing prior to October 1st each year. Once a day is contributed to the catastrophic sick day program, the contribution is irrevocable. A maximum of two (2) sick days per year may be contributed to the program by each member of the program. Only members who contribute to the sick leave program shall be permitted to participate in the program. A member must exhaust his/her own sick leave days prior to being permitted to draw on the sick leave program. Illnesses or injuries covered by Workmen's Compensation shall be excluded from this program. Appropriate guidelines, or rules and regulations, shall be prepared as necessary by a committee of three (3) teachers, one (1) administrator and one (1) board member governing the administration of the program and to ensure that abuses are not incurred and that the program is applied in a fair and equitable manner.
