Common use of Changes in Job Classification Clause in Contracts

Changes in Job Classification. a) Should a position become available within the Maintenance I job classification, preference shall be given to personnel in the Maintenance II job classification to fill this position provided they have the necessary skills and abilities. b) In the case of an Employee changing job classifications as described in a) above, the Employer shall be allowed a period of five (5) months to assess if the Employee is capable. If, during this time, the Employer finds the Employee unsuitable, the Employee shall be returned to his original position in the Maintenance II job classification with no loss of seniority. c) An Employee who changes job classifications as above shall establish seniority in the new job classification beginning on the first day of service in the new job classification.
