Class Schedules. 5.10.1 In establishing class schedules, Division Deans shall attempt to achieve schedules that equitably distribute the number of class preparations that faculty members must do for lecture or laboratory classes. Exceptions to the eight (8)-hour assignment must be recommended by the division ▇▇▇▇ and approved by the vice president for instruction. In addition, for those contract or regular faculty hired (i.e., first day of paid employment) on or after July 1, 2011, priority for overload assignments will be limited to one section of at least three (3) classroom hours per week beyond a full load (if the section is less than one three (3) classroom hours per week, the priority will be two (2) sections). Such employees may teach more than one section, up to the above-referenced limit of eight (8) hours, but no priority will be given over other instructors.
c. Intersession teaching assignments may be scheduled in one or more terms, so long as the total summer assignment does not exceed 180 hours, the semester equivalent to 67% of a full-time faculty member’s load during eleven (11) hours per week, provided however, that while the primary term District uses an extended summer calendar (Fall/Spring) unless approved such as the one in place for the 2013/14 school year), the total summer assignment may not exceed 360 hours.
