CLASSIFICATIONS & WAGES. 27.01 The employer agrees to pay and the union agrees to accept for the duration of this Agreement the wages set out in Schedule “ A “. 27.02 The employer will discuss with the union the rate of pay for any new or changed job prior to the rate being implemented. If the parties fail to agree on the rate of pay they shall implement the rate proposed by the employer and the union shall have the right to grieve whether or not the rate is appropriate.

CLASSIFICATIONS & WAGES. ‌ There shall be three (3) classifications: Warehouse 2, Warehouse 3, and Warehouse 4. Inventory Control Representatives and Senior Warehouse Workers are Warehouse 4. Employees hired prior to the effective date of the collective agreement will continue to be paid their present rates of pay, together with the following: 1. All current full time employees who were employed as of March 23, 2017, will receive a signing bonus of $900.00. All current part time employees who were employed as of March 23, 2017, will receive a signing bonus of $450.00. The bonuses must be paid by not later than December 7, 2018. 2. All current employees will also receive the following increases to their rates as of the following dates: a. January 1, 2018 - twenty-five cents ($0.25); b. July 1, 2018 - twenty-five cents ($0.25); c. January 1, 2019 - twenty-seven cents ($0.27); d. July 1, 2019 - twenty-seven cents ($0.27); e. January 1, 2020 - twenty-seven cents ($0.27); f. July 1, 2020 - twenty-seven cents ($0.27). 3. Employees hired after the effective date of the collective agreement will have the following start rates: a. Warehouse 2 = $14.25 b. Warehouse 3 = $16.45
CLASSIFICATIONS & WAGES. 21.1 All employees covered by this Agreement shall be paid on an hourly basis. The hourly rate paid is the basic rate corresponding to the classification of the position held as defined below. 21.2 General wage increases after December 31, 2001, up until the expiration of this Agreement, will be in accordance with general wage increases negotiated between the BMWE and CN during National Negotiations for those employees covered under their bargaining certificate as provided in Article 2 of this Collective Agreement. 21.3 Where applicable, and when they occupy a position requiring such qualifications, employees who have successfully completed the appropriate qualification program will receive the following qualification pay: LEVEL QUALIFICATION ALLOWANCE TOTAL ALLOWANCE Note 1: QSOC employees may occasionally be required to work as conductors. When so required, they shall receive the rate of pay applicable for such position. Note 2 : Employees holding a permanent QSPI or QSOC position and possessing one of the qualifications will be immediately entitled to the corresponding allowance as per the list above for each of such qualifications. 21.4 Track Maintainers, Masonry workers and Carpenters will be entitled to qualification pay of $0.70 per hour upon presentation of a valid class 3 driver’s license and an “A” book under the Canadian Railway Operating Rules. 21.5 Employees temporarily assigned to lower rated positions shall not have their rate reduced. CLASSIFICATIONS & WAGES. The attached Schedule ‘A’ and Schedule covering job classificationsand hourly rates of pay will be part of this Agreement. All wages will be paid by direct deposit into employee’sbank account each Friday. Employees will normally progress from mini- mum to maximum hourly rate of pay in accordance with the time periods set out in Schedule Progressions within each job classification are not automatic but subject to satisfactory performance. In the event that an employee does not make satisfactory progress during a normal time period, that time period will be extended for a period of up to additional months during which the employee’sprogress will be reviewed, If the employee makes satisfactory progress during review, the advance withheld will be granted at the end of the extended period and, in the event of continued satisfactory progress, the normal progression time periods will resume from that date. The employee whose normal advance is withheld will be given a written explanation.

(a) STRAIGHT TIME - All work performed within a normal work day as defined above shall be paid at straight-time rates. (b) TIME AND ONE-HALF - One-and-one-half (1-1/2) times the straight-time rate of pay shall be paid for all hours worked outside the normal work day through the twelfth (12th) hour worked, providing such overtime hours commence within two (2) hours after the close of that particular normal work day. If the holiday falls on Sunday, Monday will be the designated day off. ** No work shall be performed on Labor Day except in cases of emergency, and then only after permission is granted by the Business Manager of the Union. ***When Christmas Eve falls on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, both Friday and Monday will be the designated days off for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. (iv) all hours worked between midnight and 6:00 a.m.; (v) all hours worked beyond the twelfth (12th) consecutive hour; (vi) all overtime hours worked if such overtime work begins more than two (2) hours after the close of that work day. (d) EMERGENCY WORK AT TIME AND ONE-HALF: One- and-one-half (1-1/2) times the regular rate of pay shall be paid for all work performed outside the normal work day if such work is necessitated by immediate attention because of wind, flood, or other natural disasters or because of emergency caused by fire or electrical accident which results in potential danger to life or property. (e) No Employer or any of his employees covered under this Agreement, or the bargaining agent for such employees, shall give or accept directly or indirectly any rebate of wages. Any Employer found violating this provision shall be subject to having his agreement terminated. (f) Overtime will not be paid without completion of a full shift unless an acceptable reason for an absence during the regular shift hours has been relayed to the person in charge.
