Continuing Professional Development Leave. 60.1. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) means training that an Employee is required to undertake in order to maintain their registration or currency of their overarching qualification (i.e. Nurses, Health Professional, and Aboriginal Health Practitioners). 60.2. Where an Employee is required to undertake CPD in order to maintain their occupation registration or currency of their overarching qualification, including attendance at professional conferences and seminars which contribute to CPD hours and credentialing requirements, Maari Ma may provide support of up to three (3) days paid CPD leave per financial year. 60.3. Applications for CPD must be approved by Maari Ma prior to the training being undertaken. 60.4. Maari Ma is not responsible for paying for or reimbursing the Employee for any costs associated with CPD including tuition fees, travel or meals. 60.5. Such leave is not cumulative or paid out on termination.
Continuing Professional Development Leave. In addition to other leave entitlements, all Employees, except casual Employees, are entitled to paid continuing professional development leave in the following amounts: 39.1.1 five days for full-time Employees; and 39.1.2 a pro-rata amount for part-time Employees. Continuing professional development leave may be taken by an Employee for the purpose of maintaining their knowledge in their current area of practice, improving or broadening their knowledge, expertise and competence, and developing the personal and professional qualities required through their professional lives. In pursuit of this purpose, an Employee may take such leave to: 39.2.1 attend a conference or seminar; and/or 39.2.2 undertake research or home study. Continuing professional development leave does not accumulate from year to year. However, if an Employee makes a valid application for such leave but no leave is granted during the calendar year, one day's leave shall be added to the Employee's accrued annual leave, or may be taken in another manner as mutually agreed between the Employer and the Employee.

If the Employee is wishing to take continuing professional development leave to undertake home study the Employee's request must include details of the relevance of the study to the Employee's employment. The Employer must notify the Employee whether the leave request is approved. If the leave is not granted, the reasons will be included in the notification to the Employee. The Employer will only refuse the request for leave if the conditions in 39.1 to 39.4 are not satisfied, or there are exceptional circumstances that justify refusal. The Employer will not unreasonably withhold approval of the leave.
Continuing Professional Development Leave a) Full time and part time employees may, with approval from the employer, access up to 5 days’ paid Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Leave in a calendar year. CPD Leave may be taken, with approval, for professional development activities including research, attendance at seminars or conferences. The professional development activity must be relevant to the duties of the employee’s current position. b) The employee is required to apply for CPD leave at least 2 weeks prior to the requested date/s. c) Applications for CPD leave must be in writing and include the date of the requested leave and a brief description of the nature of the professional development activity to be undertaken. d) Applications for CPD leave will not be unreasonably refused where the employee provides at least 2 weeks’ notice. The employer’s payment for the cost of the seminar, conference or course may be a reason for the employer to refuse an employee’s application for paid CPD leave, in which case the employee can access unpaid leave or other accrued paid leave. e) CPD leave does not accumulate from year to year.

  • Continuing Professional Development If, during the life of the Agreement, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is introduced for plumbers, all time spent in complying with the CPD obligations will be the responsibility of each plumber.

  • Professional Development Leave A. Policy. Professional development leave shall be made available to employees who meet the requirements set forth below. Such leaves are granted to increase an employee's value to the University through enhanced opportunities for professional renewal, educational travel, study, formal education, research, writing, or other experience of professional value, not as a reward for service.

  • Staff Development Leave (a) An employee will be granted leave without loss of pay, at their basic rate of pay, to take courses (including related examinations) or attend conferences, conventions, seminars, workshops, symposiums or similar out-of-service programs, at the request of the Employer. The amount of pay received by an employee will not exceed the full-time daily hours of work as outlined in Clause 14.2 (Hours of Work). When such leave is granted, the Employer will bear the full cost, including tuition fees, entrance or registration fees, laboratory fees, and course-related books. The Employer will also reimburse the employee for approved travelling, subsistence, and other legitimate, applicable expenses. (b) An employee may be granted leave without pay, with pay, or leave with partial pay, to take work related courses in which the employee wishes to enrol to acquire the skills necessary to enhance opportunities. (c) Approval of requests will be given reasonable consideration and leaves pursuant to this article will be administered in a reasonable manner. (d) Should the employee noted above terminate their employment for any reason during the six month period following completion of the above-noted leave, the employee will reimburse the Employer for all expenses incurred by the Employer (i.e. tuition fees, entrance or registration fees, laboratory fees, and course-required books) on a proportionate basis.

  • Professional Development Plan Professional Development Plan (PDP) refers to plans developed by faculty members addressing the criteria contained in Article 22 and Appendix G.

  • Professional Development Days Upon request, each Employee shall be granted at least three (3) professional development days annually for professional development, at the Basic Rate of Pay. An Employee shall be advised, prior to taking any professional development days of any transportation, registration fees, subsistence and other expenses that will be paid by the Employer. Such hours not used in each fiscal year shall not be carried forward into subsequent years. Applications for such paid professional development opportunities shall be made in writing, to the Employer as early as possible.
