The 'Contract Negotiation Meetings' clause establishes the requirement and framework for parties to meet and discuss the terms of a contract before finalization. Contract Negotiation Meetings. When operational requirements permit, the Employer will grant leave without pay to an employee for the purpose of attending contract negotiation meetings on behalf of the Alliance. Preparatory Contract Negotiation Meetings

(b) Notwithstanding subsection (a) where the employee has been granted leave without pay to attend the initial contract negotiation meeting on behalf of the Union, the Employer will grant leave without pay to the employee for all subsequent contract negotiation meetings.

Subject to operational requirements, the Employer shall grant leave without pay to a reasonable of employees to attend of the Board of Directors of the Alliance, meetings of the National Executive of the Components, Executive Board meetings of the Alliance, and conventions of Alliance, the Components, the Canadian Labour Congress, and the Territorial and Provincial Federations of Labour. When operational requirements the Employer will grant leave without pay to employees who exercise the authority of a representative on behalf of the Alliance to undertake training related to the duties of a representative.
