CONVERSION PROCEDURES TO FOLLOW. 34.1 The conversion process of educators will only be considered after 60 days and once the Provincial Education Department has issued staff establishments, declared educators additional to the staff establishments and followed a process of matching and placing of the latter. This process shall be finalised by 31 December of each year. 34.2 The conversion of an educator will only be considered if accompanied by confirmation in writing from the School Governing Body and Principal that there are no: 34.2.1 Educators in addition available; 34.2.2 Educators who have received departmental bursaries; and 34.2.3 First time appointment. 34.3 Subject to the afore-mentioned provisions, the educator concerned must at the time of conversion have been employed in a temporary capacity for a continuous period of at least six (6) months subject to the recommendation of the School Governing Body as contemplated in section 6B. 34.4 It will be the responsibility of school principals to profile the substantive posts occupied by temporary employees and submit such to the District for permanent conversion. 34.5 In addition to the general criteria established the following criteria need to be adhered to in order to be considered for the conversion of temporary/contract status to permanent: 34.5.1 Be professionally qualified for the education profession; 34.5.2 Meet the inherent requirements of the post in which the conversion of appointment will be made; 34.5.3 Be registered with the South African Council of Educators (SACE); and 34.5.4 Educators who resigned from the education profession (national or provincial) may only be considered for the conversion of their appointment status from temporary/contract to permanent after considering 34.2 above. 34.6 The conversion of a temporary appointment to a permanent appointment is subject to approval by the Head of Department. 34.7 The temporary educators whose status has been converted to permanent will be subjected to a probation period of a year (12 months) after being made permanent. 34.8 Where a vacant substantive post(s) needs to be filled urgently on a temporary or contract basis, such appointment may not exceed a fixed period of three (3) months. 34.9 Notwithstanding the aforementioned provisions, the Provincial Education Department have discretionary power to advertise and fill such posts through the normal recruitment and selection process.

CONVERSION PROCEDURES TO FOLLOW. 34.1 12.1. The general criteria established for the conversion of the appointment status of educators from temporary to permanent in terms of Section 6B of the EEA, 1998 stipulates that the following conditions must be met:
12.1.1. Only funded substantive vacant posts identified for filling by the Provincial Education Department for conversion may be filled on this basis.
12.1.2. The permanent appointment must be made to a substantive vacant Post Level 1 post and the post must reflect in the approved educator staff establishment of the school.
12.2. The conversion process of educators will only be considered after 60 days and days, once the Provincial Education Department has issued staff establishments, declared educators additional to the staff establishments and followed a process of matching and placing of the latter. 34.2 12.3. The conversion of an educator will only be considered if accompanied by confirmation in writing from the School Governing Body and Principal Principal, that there are nothe conversion was done with due regard to the following order of priority:
34.2.1 12.3.1. Educators in addition availableto the staff establishment;
34.2.2 12.3.2. Educators who have received departmental bursaries; and
34.2.3 12.3.3. First time appointment.. Employer to source mandate
34.3 12.4. 34.5.4 12.6.4. Educators who resigned from the education profession (national or provincial) may only be considered for the conversion of their appointment status from temporary/contract to permanent after considering 34.2 12.2 above.
34.6 12.7. The conversion of a temporary appointment to a permanent appointment is subject to approval by the Head of Department.
34.7 12.8. The temporary educators whose status has have been converted to permanent will be subjected to a probation period of a year (12 months) after being made permanent.
34.8 12.9. Where a vacant substantive post(s) needs to be filled urgently on a temporary or contract basis, schools must obtain names of candidates from a provincial database of qualified unemployed educators, such appointment may not exceed a fixed period of three (3) months90 days.
34.9 12.10. Notwithstanding the aforementioned afore-mentioned provisions, the Provincial Education Department have discretionary power to advertise and fill such posts through the normal recruitment and selection process.
