Common use of Course Transfer Clause in Contracts

Course Transfer. a. The Regional Ivy Tech students who have not completed the Associate of Science degree program and who seek to transfer course credit which has been earned after the implementation of this agreement into the IU Kokomo Division of Education will have their transfer request evaluated on a course- by-course basis consistent with the policies, procedures, and practices of the Division of Education at Indiana University Kokomo. b. Any course taken prior to fall 2008 at the Regional Ivy Tech or any course taken at an institution other than the Regional Ivy Tech will be evaluated by faculty from IU Kokomo School of Education in order to determine the transferability of the course work. c. All students transferring course credit from the Regional Ivy Tech to IU Kokomo, whether following completion of the A.S. degree or for individual courses, will do so via official transcripts. All parties to this agreement agree that a review of this document is a joint effort by the Regional Ivy Tech and IU Kokomo. This articulation document will be reviewed annually starting spring 2009. Further adjustment(s) to this agreement could be necessary after the re-evaluation. Should a decision be made to modify or dissolve this agreement, students who may already be attending IU Kokomo at that time and students with a letter of intent on file, and who meet all other criteria, will be permitted to continue as long as their academic performance remains in good standing. All parties to this agreement agree that each institution will inform the other of any institutional plans or changes that will have impact upon this articulation agreement prior to implementing these plans or changes. Furthermore, every effort will be made to assure the proposed changes do not threaten the viability of this articulation agreement. The provisions of this agreement become effective fall semester 2008. While all parties understand its purpose is to maximize opportunities for individual students, they recognize that limits may be placed on courses accepted under provisions of this agreement should the student subsequently decide to change to a program other than covered by this agreement. These students have indicated that Indiana University Kokomo (IU Kokomo) is their selection for continuing their education in order to complete the requirements of the Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Completion of remaining program and credit hour requirements at IU Kokomo will earn Regional Ivy Tech Community College graduates this baccalaureate degree. At the same time, these graduates will qualify for an Initial Practitioner License in their designated area for Generalist: Early and Middle Childhood. In the spirit of cooperation that will ensure smooth transition to the baccalaureate degree program, faculty and administrators of both institutions have developed the attached program listing of courses approved for transfer and have agreed to have a program-to- program articulation rather than a course-to-course transfer. This decision is an evolution of the prior course-to-course articulation agreements between education programs offered by the Regional Ivy Tech and IU Kokomo Division of Education. The entire approved program transfers from the Regional Ivy Tech to IU Kokomo.
