The Curriculum Revision clause establishes the process and authority for making changes to the educational curriculum covered by an agreement. CURRICULUM REVISION. It is agreed that it is the legal responsibility of the Board to determine the curriculum and programs to be implemented within the school district. It is recognized that the training, expertise, and experience of professional school administrators make them an invaluable resource. They will be consulted by the Board as to curriculum and program development.
CURRICULUM REVISION. There may be a voluntary curriculum revision program each summer under the direction of the Superintendent. The purpose of the program is to study needed curriculum revision.
CURRICULUM REVISION. Teachers shall play an active role in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of curriculum or new programs. Final decisions concerning curriculum development shall be made by the Board of Education. Teachers for all summer curriculum writing projects shall be selected and scheduled by the Superintendent and/or his/her designee. All such selections shall be at the Superintendent’s discretion or as he/she determines is consistent with implementation of curriculum management cycles. Curriculum writers shall be determined at the discretion of the Superintendent, and shall serve on a voluntary basis at $42.00 per hour for summer curriculum writing projects.

The teachers shall play an active role in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of curriculum, and in the planning of curriculum days. The Board will encourage and support in-service training programs to prepare teachers for the new curriculum and will consider the use of released time when, in the judgment of the administration, it is required for an effective in-service workshop. The advisability of pilot programs rather than full implementation will be considered. Both teachers and administration will constantly evaluate and study both established and new curricula and either may suggest modification or change. B. Each standing curriculum committee shall commence its functions not later than October of each school year and shall meet a minimum of four (4) times per year. In the event that members of a standing committee determine that the committee’s interests would be served by the election of a Chairperson, the members of that committee shall designate a Chairperson by a majority vote. The Board will provide one-half (1/2) day of released time during the school year to the Chairperson of each committee to perform committee functions. Each standing curriculum committee will make an annual end-of-year report to the Superintendent of Schools of the status of its curricular area. C. Standing curriculum committees composed of teachers and supervisors shall have authority to recommend and suggest changes directly to the Superintendent. D. Participation on standing curriculum committees shall be voluntary. BEST mentees (protégés) shall be excused from serving on curriculum committees during their second year of participation in the BEST program.

The Board will encourage and support in-service training programs to prepare teachers for any new curriculum, and will consider the use of released time when in the judgment of the administration it is required for an effective in-service workshop. D. Both the Board and the Association will constantly strive to evaluate and study both established and new curriculum, and either party may suggest modifications or changes.

CURRICULUM REVISION. 46.1. Teachers involved in curriculum study will be selected from those teaching within that subject area and will be representative of the grade level or levels for which the curriculum is designed. Teachers will be chosen from those who volunteer and selection will be based upon experience and demonstrated competence in the area of the study. This does not preclude the involvement of consultants from outside the system in a curriculum revision.

B. School administrators shall endeavor to honor requests for release time from teachers who find it necessary to perform curriculum revision work during the school day. In the event of major curriculum planning or revision projects which are likely to involve unreasonable expenditure of time beyond the usual professional commitment, the Board and the League may use the usual procedure established in Article 34 to discuss reasonable release time and/or compensation for the teachers involved. In the alternative, the Board may compensate teachers who volunteer for curriculum work during the summer months (or other time outside of normal work time, such as school vacations) at the hourly rate set forth in Appendix C.
CURRICULUM REVISION. During September 2014- March 2015, LTD will assist NIET’s leadership team of trainers in revising Modules 4-10 of the Leadership Diploma Program (LDP) . The intended outcome of this effort will be an improved training curriculum that gives principals the leadership skills they need to help improve school based development. LTD and NIET trainers will meet to revise and modify the training modules in light of feedback obtained from the Cohort- I principals, and the feedback obtained from the evaluation sessions. Each module will be reviewed, and the activities/homework will be reassessed and changed if necessary in light of the suggestions of the previous trainees. Once in their final form, each module will be sent for printing.

The teachers shall play an active but advisory role in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum. 7.10.2 The Board will encourage and support in-service training programs to prepare teachers for the new curriculum and will consider the use of released time when in the judgment of the administration it is required for an effective in-service workshop. 7.10.3 The advisability of pilot programs rather than full implementation will be considered. 7.10.4 Both the Board and the Association will constantly evaluate and study both established and new curriculum and either may suggest modifications or changes. 7.10.5 Curriculum writing and revision, and Grant Tutoring Services shall be paid at the rate of $24.00 per hour, unless the grant specifies a greater amount, for summer work and work outside of the regular work day; provided all such work must be approved in advance in writing by the Assistant Superintendent. Training concerning curriculum writing and revision and training concerning Grant Tutoring Services shall be paid at the rate of $24.00 per hour, unless the grant specifies a greater amount, for the life of this contract provided it is either done during the summer or outside of the regular work day.
