Cast, founded in 1998 in Los Angeles, California, is a non-profit, 501(3) organization that provides social and legal services and promotes education and advocacy for survivors of human trafficking. Since its founding, Cast has supported sex and labor trafficking survivors through counseling, legal resources, housing, education and leadership training and mentorship programs. Cast has provided services to over 2,000 survivors and their family members, as well as thousands of hours of technical consultation and assistance to organizations working on this issue across the country and internationally. Cast provides legal and social services to survivors on a daily basis. The Participants intend to establish a collaborative relationship to provide workers who work in California with information, guidance, and access to education and training resources to help them exercise their workplace rights, particularly with regard to reducing violations of the minimum wage, overtime, recordkeeping, child labor, safe housing, and transportation provisions of the laws and regulations administered and enforced by WHD, and to help them understand the rights of workers and the responsibilities of employers under the Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act, ▇▇▇▇▇-▇▇▇▇▇ and Related Acts, Service Contract Act, and the H-2A and H-2B programs under the Immigration and Nationality Act over which WHD has enforcement authority.
