Differential Leave. After all earned and accrued sick leave is exhausted, additional non-accumulated differential leave for a unit member’s own health condition, including all health conditions associated with pregnancy disability, is available for a period not to exceed five (5) school months per fiscal year and per injury or illness. a. During any period when a unit member is on differential leave, the amount deducted from the salary due the unit member for any month in which the absence occurs shall not exceed the sum that is actually paid a substitute employed to fill the unit member’s position during the absence or, if no substitute is employed, the amount that would have been paid to the substitute had one been employed. The District shall make every reasonable effort to secure the services of a substitute. (See Ed. Code 87780.)
