Early notification. Once notification is submitted, the decision is irrevocable unless otherwise determined by the Board. In the event an employee has submitted his/her timely irrevocable letter of retirement but fails to meet the eligibility requirements because of illness or life changing circumstances, the Board in its sole discretion may allow the employee to rescind his/her letter or retirement, provided the employee returns to the Board any TRS creditable earnings paid to the employee in excess of the amount the employee would otherwise have received under the salary schedule for such year(s) in which the creditable earnings were paid.
