Common use of EMERGENCIES AND DISASTERS Clause in Contracts

EMERGENCIES AND DISASTERS. During an emergency, disaster, or catastrophic event, which places life or property in jeopardy, employees may be assigned to any disaster service activity that promotes the protection of the public health and safety. Assignment might require serving at a location, at times and/or under conditions that significantly differ from employee’s normal work assignments; this may include assignments to perform work outside of the bargaining unit. As an employee of Kitsap County, employees may be directed to perform a role other than their regular job, by employee’s Department Director or designee or by law. An employee may be called on to perform services as an Emergency Worker as defined in RCW Chapter 38.52.010(8), subject to the provisions of RCW Chapter 38.52. An employee’s rate of pay will not be reduced as a result of such assignments.
