Common use of Entry Level Step Clause in Contracts

Entry Level Step. All initial employment shall be at the entry level step for the base hourly pay rate as indicated in Attachment A. The City Manager or his/her designee may authorize, upon the recommendation of the Police Chief, a position at an appropriate higher salary when, in his/her opinion, it is necessary in order to obtain qualified personnel or when it appears that the education or experience of a proposed employee is substantially superior to the minimum requirements of the class and justifies beginning salary in excess of the first step. Initial employment appointments above Step C will require City Manager Approval.
