EVALUATION OF TEACHER PERFORMANCE. 1. The purpose of supervision and evaluation is to promote and reinforce the work of the teacher.
2. All formal evaluation on the work of a teacher, including teachers-teaching-on- call, shall be in writing.
3. The criteria to be used in assessing individual teaching performance shall be consistent with the Guidelines for Teacher Evaluation developed by the District.
4. The formal evaluation of teachers is carried out as a series of steps:
a. The evaluator meets with the teaching staff and describes the purposes and requirements for formal evaluation.
b. The evaluator, in consultation with each teacher being evaluated, identifies and clarifies the criteria to be used in the evaluation.
c. The evaluator and teacher determine a schedule for observation and methods to be used in the collection of relevant information.
d. Data are collected from no fewer than three (3) formal classroom observations. Teachers will have no fewer than three (3) formal visits and, in normal circumstances, no more than six (6). However, in the event that the evaluator is unable to write a satisfactory report by the sixth visit, additional formal observations will occur.
e. The evaluator shall discuss with the teacher the process by which the evaluation shall take place, which shall include:
i. a pre-observation conference about lesson(s) to be observed
ii. classroom observation
iii. and a post-observation conference followed by a written summary, both of which shall occur as soon as practicable.
f. The evaluator prepares a draft report on the teacher’s performance and discusses the contents with the teacher. Revisions, if necessary, are made to the draft report and the final report is submitted to the Superintendent no later than May 15th. An extension may be made if agreed upon by the evaluator and the teacher.
g. Prior to submission of the report the teacher shall be given the opportunity to sign the report to indicate that they have had an opportunity to read and discuss the report with the evaluator.
5. The teacher shall have the right to submit to the evaluator a written commentary on the report within fifteen (15) days of Article C.21.4.g which shall be attached to their official file.

EVALUATION OF TEACHER PERFORMANCE. 1. The Local and Board believe that students are best served when a high quality of classroom instruction and teaching performance is provided and maintained, and when positive encouragement of and adequate assistance and support for teaching performance is provided. 1. The purpose of supervision and evaluation is to provide a positive approach to promote and reinforce good teaching; to reaffirm, identify and develop good teaching; to improve and/or acknowledge the observed teaching performance and the work of the teacher; and to do so in a consistent manner.
2. The criteria to be used in assessing individual teaching performance shall be consistent with the general criteria developed by the District in accordance with Board policy. There shall be a committee with equal Board and teacher representation to make recommendations to the Board regarding the formulation or modification of policy covering the criteria to be used in the evaluation of teachers.
EVALUATION OF TEACHER PERFORMANCE. ▇. ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ of the Evaluation The purpose of the teacher evaluation program in the District shall be to give an opportunity for teachers and administrators to objectively evaluate the teacher’s contributions to the local education program. To facilitate this purpose, the teacher evaluation program will include announced or unannounced observations of at least thirty minutes and walk-throughs of at least ten minutes and no more than thirty minutes in length. Announced observations will include a pre-observation conference and may include a post-conference. To fulfill their supervisory and administrative responsibilities, the principals or designated supervisor and Superintendent shall have free access to all classroom and instructional areas. Evaluations will be performed only by licensed and OTES-credentialed administrators.
EVALUATION OF TEACHER PERFORMANCE. The parties agree that the primary objective of the program to evaluate teacher performance is to improve the quality of instruction. Further, the parties recognize the importance and value of a procedure for assisting and evaluating the progress and success of both non-tenured and tenured teachers. Evaluation of teacher performance shall be done by the Principal or the Superintendent and must be based on his/her own observations. No other personnel or their observations shall be used in this evaluation procedure unless agreed to by the teacher. Each teacher, during the first four (4) weeks of employment each year shall be oriented to the evaluation procedures and criteria upon which he/she will be evaluated, and who may observe and evaluate his/her teaching performance. The evaluation procedure is based on the Montana Office of Public Instruction recommended procedure. At least one pre-observation conference should be held between the evaluator and the teacher, for each Announced Observation, so that the evaluator can be apprised of the teacher’s objectives, methods and materials planned for the teaching-learning situation to be evaluated. Each written evaluation of a teacher’s performance will be preceded by an observation of a particular teaching period. Each Announced Observation will be for a minimum of twenty-five (25) minutes to a whole class period. Each Announced or Unannounced Observation of a teacher should be followed by a personal conference between the teacher and his/her evaluator for the purpose of discussing the observation. The evaluator shall not unduly interfere with the normal teaching-learning situation process while observing. A copy of the written evaluation of the teacher’s performance shall be given to the teacher and a conference held between the teacher and the evaluator within ten (10) school days of the Announced Classroom Observation on which it is based. If the teacher believes the evaluation is incomplete or inaccurate, he/she may submit his/her objectives in writing which shall be attached to the file copy of the evaluation report. If an evaluator finds a teacher needing additional development and growth, the teacher will be provided the definite, positive recommendations to correct professional difficulties and reasonable time to incorporate the recommended changes.
