Eye Tests. (a) Eye tests will be undertaken by a mutually agreed expert. (b) The expert is to report whether glasses are needed, specifically referring to whether such are required for the operation of V.D.T.’s compared with present work requirements. (c) The Employer will pay any difference in costs between health insurance rebate and consultation fee. (d) The tests which are to be undertaken in working hours are to be conducted firstly prior to staff being required to use screens on training and a further two or three tests, as locally agreed, at six monthly intervals. After completion of the last test, ad hoc tests shall be conducted on request and be twelve months after the last. Provided that if a particular employee considers an eye problem exists, additional tests may be undertaken, at the request of the employee concerned, at intervals between those nominated above. (e) Employers are not required to pay for any glasses prescribed for normal use. However, the Employer will meet the cost of new glasses if the employee has the necessary proof from the mutually agreed expert, that a marked deterioration in eyesight has occurred due to the use of V.D.T.’s. (f) The principle relating to payment of tests and glasses apply to the first and any subsequent tests. New employees are to undertake similar testing.
