Common use of Field Authorizations Clause in Contracts

Field Authorizations. The Owner may direct the Contractor to proceed with a change in the work through a written Field Authorization (also referred to as a Field Order) when the time required to price and execute a Change Order would impact the Project. The Field Authorization shall describe and include the following: 1. The Scope of work 2. An agreed upon maximum not-to-exceed amount. 3. Any estimated change to the Contract Time 4. The method of final cost determination in accordance with the requirements of Part 7 of the General Conditions 5. The supporting cost data to be submitted in accordance with the requirements of Part 7 of the General Conditions Upon satisfactory submittal by the Contractor and approval by the Owner of supporting cost data a Change Order will be executed. The Owner will not make payment to the Contractor for Field Authorization Work until that work has been incorporated into an executed Change Order.
