Common use of Flex Day Clause in Contracts

Flex Day. Employees in the Unit who, with the knowledge and concurrence of their supervisor, work on a day not part of their normal contract work year calendar, have the right to exchange that extra day for a work day that is part of their work year calendar (“flex day”). Every attempt shall be made to avoid scheduling a “flex day” when students or teachers are present or meetings are scheduled. Flex days are not to be used for weekend school related functions or business unless the event is considered non-routine and your supervisor approves of the request. The scheduling of such day shall be discussed with and subject to prior approval (see SJPEC Flex Day Protocol form, Appendix G) by the employee’s supervisor.
