Floating Holidays. 1. Non-suppression personnel shall be granted four (4) floating holidays (thirty-two (32) hours) per fiscal year to be taken with approval of the Chief of the Department or designee. 2. Non-suppression personnel with twenty (20) or more years of City Service shall be granted eight (8) additional floating holiday hours, for a total of forty (40) hours per fiscal year, to be taken with approval of the Chief of the Department or designee. 3. Non-suppression personnel in the bargaining unit who are unable to take floating holidays during an entire fiscal year due to disability may convert his or her floating holiday(s) at straight time to time-coming (compensatory time). 4. Floating holidays received in one fiscal year, but not used may be carried forward to the next succeeding fiscal year. The number of floating holidays carried forward to a succeeding fiscal year may not exceed the total number of floating holidays received in the previous fiscal year. Floating holidays may be taken in hourly increments up to and including the number of hours contained in the employee’s regular shift.
