Common use of GDO Clause in Contracts

GDO. easyJet will improve the availability of GDO (Guaranteed Days Off) lines for employees. The GDO system is defined in the Cabin Services Protocol Doument – Netherlands Section. The total number of GDO per annum will remain at 24. Employees on part-time will receive the pro-rata amount with the exception of any employee on part-time 50% (7-7) who will have an entitlement of 6 GDOs. I have pleasure in enclosing your offer of employment on a fixed-term contract with easyJet Airline Company Ltd based in Amsterdam Schiphol. This offer of employment is conditional upon the receipt of satisfactory references, which we will now start the process, an assessment by our Company Doctor of your fitness to fly and it is also conditional upon you having the continued right to work within the Netherlands and the European Union. We will check your entitlement to work within the Netherlands and the E.U. before you start working for us by asking to see various original documents. If you cannot prove your right to work in the Netherlands and the E.U., we will have no option either to withdraw this offer of employment or to terminate your employment if you have commenced working for us as it is illegal for us to employ persons who do not have such eligibility. In order that you can fly as Cabin Crew with easyJet you are required to attend and successfully complete the Cabin Crew New Entrant Training Course. You will also need to check that your passport is valid for at least the next nine months. If not, please ensure that your passport is renewed before the start date of your course. Please be advised that in order for your salary to be paid it will be necessary for you to open a European bank account in Euros. Your salary will be liable to tax and social security deductions in the Netherlands. Part of the contract consists of a bonding letter. This is, by necessity, a rather complicated legal document, which for the sake of clarity, is explained below. If you terminate your employment with easyJet for any reason within the two month probationary period, you will be liable to repay to easyJet some of the costs of your training limited to EUR 750 and this is known as the Bond. If we terminate your contract for any reason other than summary dismissal within your two month probationary period, you will not be liable for the EUR 750. Once you have completed 6 months’ service, the amount of the Bond repayable will decrease by EUR 125 per completed month. Any amount repayable by you in respect of the Bond may be deducted from your final salary payment.
