Common use of Grant Positions Clause in Contracts

Grant Positions. a) Temporary employees filling Grant positions are hired for three (3) months or more pursuant to specific projects being undertaken when the Employer applies for and receives, grant moneys from Government, Foundations, etc. or; Where United Way grants the money on a limited basis to test a new position for a period not to exceed twelve (12) months and where the position continues beyond twelve (12) months, it will become a Regular Full Time, or Regular Part Time position within the bargaining unit and will be posted in accordance with Article 16. All projects will have a definite start and termination date and will be discussed in advance at a Labour/Management Committee meeting. b) i) Temporary employees filling Grant positions which will be in effect for longer than two (2) years have, at the completion of three (3) months employment, the one time irrevocable option of receiving either twelve percent (12%) on each pay period in lieu of vacation and benefits (as per Article 2.07 (j)), or: receiving six percent (6%) on each pay period and being enrolled in the Extended Health Benefits (Article 24.04 (b) – Letter of Understanding #1: Part 1 only), Dental Plan (Article 24.03), and Medical Insurance (Article 24.04 (a)) in lieu of vacation and benefits.
