Common use of Higher Classification Pay Clause in Contracts

Higher Classification Pay. When a regular bargaining unit member is assigned to perform the duties of an absent bargaining unit member who has a higher rated classification-salary schedule, such regular bargaining unit member shall be paid for all time worked at the higher rated classification wage on the step equal to his/her current step. The regular bargaining unit member shall receive the higher rated classification wage from the first day of the assignment. Bargaining unit members assigned to a lower rated classification salary schedule shall receive their regular hourly rate of pay in accordance with the negotiated salary schedule.
