Common use of Higher Classification Pay Clause in Contracts

Higher Classification Pay. Each employee who is required to perform the duties of a different classification with a higher salary range than the employee's current classification, shall be compensated at either 5% above their regular base rate (but in no case to exceed Step E) or be placed at Step A of the classification for which they are performing duties whichever is greater from the eleventh (11th) consecutive working day on such assignment. Eligible employees in the Department of Transportation, Equipment Maintenance, who are required to perform the duties of a different classification of a higher salary range than the employee’s current classification, shall be compensated at either 5% above their regular base rate (but in no case to exceed Step E), or be placed at Step A of the classification for which they are performing duties, whichever is greater, on a daily or “per diem” basis without the necessity to perform such higher level duties for eleven (11) consecutive work days.
