IN FIELD FINAL TUNING. For each signal system to be timed, the Engineer shall make recommendations and respond to questions in the field during the fine tuning process. a. During the course of this assistance, the engineers shall observe the actual operation of the new timing plans and recommend field adjustments to improve traffic operations to be made by the State or, at the discretion of the State, by the Engineer. b. The Engineer shall notify the State when beginning and ending the implementation. During implementation, interim adjustments to timing shall be noted on the cabinet timing sheet. Once the final timing is established, the Engineer shall upload the intersection into the database (typically Eagle Actra) and generate the following: 1) A controller data file (e.g., *.int) file to be e-mailed to the State, 2) A *.pdf file of the signal timing to be e-mailed to the State, and 3) A paper copy of the signal timing to be placed in the signal cabinet by the Engineer

Engineer shall document the field visit and provide documentation to the State. (2) When the new timing plans are operational, Engineer shall provide one or more qualified engineers for on-site fine tuning. The engineer or engineers must observe the actual operation of the new timing plans and recommend field adjustments to improve traffic operations. (3) At State’s request, Engineer shall perform field adjustments. (4) Engineer shall notify State at the beginning and ending of the implementation. (5) During implementation, Engineer shall document interim adjustments to an intersection’s signal timing on the timing sheet located in that intersection’s traffic signal controller cabinet. (6) Once final timing is established, Engineer shall upload each intersection’s traffic controller programming into an appropriate database program (typically Econolite Centracs or Eagle Actra) and generate the following for each intersection: (A) Controller data file (e.g., *.db or *.int) file, which Engineer shall e-mailed to State, (B) PDF file of the signal timing, which Engineer shall e-mailed to State, and (C) Hardcopy of the signal timing, which Engineer shall place in that intersection’s traffic signal controller cabinet.
