INTEREST AND APPORTIONMENT OF PAYMENT Sample Clauses

The 'Interest and Apportionment of Payment' clause defines how interest is calculated and applied to payments that are overdue or outstanding under the agreement. Typically, this clause specifies the interest rate, the method of calculation (such as daily or monthly), and the circumstances under which interest accrues, such as late payments or partial payments. It may also outline how payments are allocated when received, for example, whether they are first applied to interest, principal, or other charges. The core function of this clause is to incentivize timely payment, compensate the payee for late receipt of funds, and provide a clear framework for handling payment discrepancies, thereby reducing disputes over payment allocation and interest charges.
