JOB POSTING PROCEDURE. a) If the vacancy or temporary vacancy per Article 9.08 (Temporary Vacancies and Assignments) is not filled through the Job Request Registry Procedure, or if a new job or position is created within the bargaining unit, it shall be posted on all bulletin boards within ten (10) working days unless there are extenuating circumstances and shall remain posted for ten (10) working days during which time current bargaining unit employees will have the opportunity to apply for the position in writing. Such vacancies and new jobs or positions shall be filled in accordance with Article 9.05 (Role of Seniority Re: Job Postings and Appointments). b) Appointments from within the bargaining unit shall be made within ten (10) working days after the posting closes. The Corporation shall attempt to fill the position within five (5) working days of appointment. The successful applicant shall receive the rate of the vacant job on actual commencement of the duties of such job. c) The Union shall be notified in writing of all appointments. d) An employee’s posted position shall be held for them while they are continuously absent due to illness or injury for a period of twenty-four (24) months, if they have not been terminated. After such time, the position may be treated as a permanent vacancy and posted. Upon return from an absence of more than twenty-four (24) months an employee shall have the right to bump a less senior employee provided that he/she have the qualifications to perform the job he/she is bumping in to. e) If the Employer chooses not to fill a vacancy or temporary position, they shall so notify the Union in writing at the time the vacancy occurs.

JOB POSTING PROCEDURE. (a) If In the vacancy event that any job becomes vacant or temporary vacancy per Article 9.08 (Temporary Vacancies and Assignments) is not filled through the Job Request Registry Procedure, or if a new job or position is created or new equipment is installed in the Bargaining Unit, the Company shall post a notice on the Bulletin Board in Surrey, plus send a copy to each Branch. The head Shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ in Surrey and Shop Stewards in each Branch shall receive a copy notifying that a vacancy exists in a particular job. It is understood and agreed that where there is no requirement for additional personnel, but simply a transfer of personnel within a Branch, the bargaining unitCompany shall meet with a Business Representative of the Union to discuss the matter and agree on the appropriate job posting procedure. (b) Employees desiring such job shall apply, it shall be posted on all bulletin boards in writing, within ten (10) working days unless there are extenuating circumstances and of such posting, except that Employees on vacation or out of town on work for the Company at such time shall remain posted for ten (10) working days during which time current bargaining unit employees will have the opportunity right to apply for when they return. (e) Any Employee who changes classification, location or position within the Bargaining Unit, as a permanent vacancy result of job posting, shall be allowed a reasonable period of trial of up to one hundred and postedthirty-two (132) days of actual work. The Union Committee shall he notified of the names of the successful bidders within a five (5) day period immediately follow- ing the expiration of the job posting. Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this clause, if an employee is absent from work during a period of such posting because of accident, illness, vacation or layoff, he shall be entitled to bid for any vacancy which was posted during his absence, provided he does so within five (5) days of his return and provided the posting occurred in the three (3) months prior to the return to work. In filling jobs under this job posting proce- dure, the employee with the greatest seniority who applied for the job will be given prefer- provided he has the qualifications and ability to fulfill the requirements of the job. The management reserves the right to hire outside help, provided there are no applicants capable of performing the work required. The Company will decide within thirty (30) calendar days of placing a successful appli- cant into a posted whether he can satis- factorily fill the position, subject thereto, the employee must, within the same thirty (30) calendar day make his final decision to accept or refuse the job. In case the employee is not retained in the job by the Company, or in case of his refusal of the same, as above provided, he will there- upon be returned to his former job without loss of seniority and any other employee affected thereby will be returned to his job on a similar basis and thereafter the original job will be filled in accordance with Article 9.05 (Role the pro- visions of Seniority Re: Job Postings and Appointments). b) Appointments from within the bargaining unit shall be made within ten (10) working days after the posting closes.
