Common use of Leave of Absence for Union Functions Clause in Contracts

Leave of Absence for Union Functions. Upon written application to the immediate supervisor at least fourteen (14) days in advance, and provided the requirements of the operation permit, the Employer shall grant leave of absence without pay to not more than one (1) employee to attend a Union convention or other official union function on behalf of the Union. Such leave shall not exceed one (1) week, except where mutually agreed to extend such period. Not withstanding the above, a leave of absence for one (1) employee to attend Union Executive Council Meetings will be subject to the notice provisions of Article 8.04 but not operational requirements.
