Common use of Leaves - Generally Clause in Contracts

Leaves - Generally. No employee may be absent from his/her job without an approved leave. An approved leave shall be vacation leave, personal holiday leave, sick leave, funeral leave, ▇▇▇▇▇▇'s Compensation leave, military leave, parental leave, special leave, approved leave of absence without pay and personal emergency leave. A leave of absence without pay must be approved by the department head for the first day and the second and third day authorized by the department head and approved by the Human Resources Director in advance. If it is to be longer than three (3) work days, it must be approved by the City Manager in advance of the leave. No leave of absence without pay (of one-half day or more duration) shall be granted until an employee has used all his/her leave, with the following exceptions: A. Absence of Union Officers or bargaining committee if requested in writing by the Union President. Such request, if denied by the department head can be appealed to the Human Resources Department and the City Manager.
