Leaves Without Pay. 23.2.1 An employee may request a leave of absence without pay and without accumulation of credits. The Employer shall not unreasonably withhold consent with respect to any such request or request for an extension of such leave, however it is agreed that operating requirements is a factor which will be considered under this provision. The Employer will normally respond to an employee’s written request within 10 days absent unforeseen circumstances. More time may be required in some instances, in which case the employee will be kept apprised of the status of the request including the anticipated timetable within which the request will be dealt with. 23.2.2 Subject to 23.2.1, an employee shall be entitled to a full time leave of absence without pay and without accumulation of credits of up to one (1) year for the purposes of caring for a dependant person.
