Line of Progression. In the event of a reduction in the Fire Department work force, the employee with the least departmental seniority shall be released first. An employee released from his/her regular classification will move back down the line of progression to the classification below his/her, thereby releasing the least senior employee in that classification, who in turn shall move to the classification below him/her until such time as the least senior employee in the Department is laid off.
