Common use of Lump Sum Alimony Buy-out Clause in Contracts

Lump Sum Alimony Buy-out. The Parties may in the future decide to exchange a distribution of assets for the release of the obligation to pay alimony and, if they do so, they shall, for income tax purposes, treat such a payment as a non-taxable, non-deductible payment of marital assets, even if the payment is structured as a series of periodic payments.
