Mechanical Design. The strength of insulators shall be such that, when supporting the maximum working load as in service, the factor of safety shall be not less than 2.5. They shall be secured in an approved manner with suitable clamping plates. They shall not engage directly with metal but shall be mounted with suitable interposing materials. The design of all insulators shall be such as to permit easy cleaning.
