MEMBERSHIP AND CHECK-OFF. All employees occupying regular full-time permanent positions and all new employees who have completed thirty (30) days' employment will be required to pay to the Union local an amount equal to the current monthly dues so long as the Union is the recognized bargaining agent. The Union's initial membership initiation fees will also be deducted from each employee's pay provided the Union supplies the Corporation with individual signed authorization from the employees concerned showing the sum to be deducted. The Union will save the Corporation harmless from any form of liability arising from or as a result of deductions or non deduction of monthly dues. M Union dues deductions shall be made from the second payroll period each month and shall be remitted to the Treasurer of the Union Local by the fifteenth of the month following accompanied by a listing showing the names of employees from whose pay deductions have been made and their employment status. M Before the Corporation is obliged to deduct any amount of Union dues, the Union shall advise the Corporation in writing of the amount of its regular monthly dues. The amount so advised shall continue to be the amount to be deducted until changed by further notice to the Corporation and signed by the President of the Union local concerned. Upon receipt of such notice, changed amount shall be the amount deducted and remitted. M At the same time that Income Tax slips are made available, the Employer shall type on the amount of Union dues paid by each Union member in the previous year.
MEMBERSHIP AND CHECK-OFF. Employees, as a condition of employment, will be required to pay the specified Union dues whether they are members of the Union or not. They shall have the right to become members of the Union by applying for membership and by paying the required initiation fee.

MEMBERSHIP AND CHECK-OFF. The employer will deduct from each employee covered by this agreement an amount equal to the regular monthly union dues designated by the union. The employer deduct any designated initiation fees upon receipt of authorization from the union. Such dues shall be deducted and, in the case of newly hired employees, deductions shall commence on their date of hire. The amount of the regular monthly dues and initiation fees shall be those authorized by the union and the union shall notify the employer of any changes therein and such notification shall be the employer’s conclusive authority to make the deduction specified, upon receipt of authorization. In consideration of the deducting and forwarding of union dues by the employer, the union agrees to indemnify and save the employer harmless against any claims or liabilities arising or resulting from the operation of this article. The amounts so deducted shall be remitted monthly to the union no later than the end of the third week in the month following the month in which the dues were deducted. The employer shall provide the union with the following information relating to the following mattersfor employees within the bargaining unit on a regular basis:
a) a list of employees showing their names and classifications and any change of address of new employees at the time of first union dues deduction; discharges, suspensions, resignations, retirements and deaths.

(a) All employees shall, as a condition of employment and continued employment, join and maintain membership in the Union and shall irrevocably authorize the Employer to deduct and forward to the Union, all initiation fees, dues, assessments, benefits payments, arrears and other amounts required, by the Union, to be paid.
(b) Union dues shall continue to be paid when an employee is temporarily in a non- bargaining unit position.
(c) The authorization forms required by this Article 3.01 shall contain the employee's name, date signed and date of first deduction and a copy shall be sent to the Union's office within ten (10) working days of hiring.

It is understood that membership is not a requirement. Temporary employees and students will not accrue any seniority rights or representation rights by paying an amount equivalent to dues. The Union's initial membership initiation fees will also be deducted from each employee's pay provided the Union supplies the Corporation with individual signed authorization from the employees concerned showing the sum to be deducted. 4.02 Union dues deductions shall be made from each pay period and shall be remitted to the Treasurer of the Union Local by the fifteenth (15th) of the month following accompanied by a listing showing the names of employees from whose pay deductions have been made and their employment status.
4.03 Before the Corporation is obliged to deduct any amount of Union dues, the Union shall advise the Corporation in writing of the amount of its regular monthly dues. The amount so advised shall continue to be the amount to be deducted until changed by further notice to the Corporation and signed by the President of the Union local concerned. Upon receipt of such notice, such changed amount shall be the amount deducted and remitted.
4.04 At the same time that Income Tax (T-4) slips are made available, the Employer shall type on the amount of Union dues paid by each Union member in the previous year.
MEMBERSHIP AND CHECK-OFF a) The City agrees to a bi-weekly check off of Union dues under the Rand Formula.
b) The Union agrees to notify the City if there is to be any change in the amount of Union dues which the City is authorized to deduct under Article 3.3a).
c) In this article 'Rand Formula' shall mean that all employees of the City of Red Deer certified for collective bargaining under Union Local 417 CUPE (in this Agreement referred to collectively as 'employees') shall, as a condition of employment, be required to pay the regular Union dues whether they are members of the Union or not. They shall have the right to become members of the Union by making application and paying the initiation fees required.
d) All deductions under the terms of this article shall be payable to the Union by the fifteenth (15th) of the following month, together with a list of names and addresses and amount of dues deducted for employees covered by the certification, and including total wages for employees covered by the Union certificate.
e) The Employer shall provide the Union on a monthly basis with a list of non- permanent employees in Casual positions who have worked during the previous month and the position(s) filled.
f) The City will provide the Union with notice of Union Members retirement including the retiree’s names and years of service.
MEMBERSHIP AND CHECK-OFF. (a) Each employee in the bargaining unit shall pay union dues to the Union. The Employer will deduct an amount equal to the amount of the Union=s membership dues from the bi-weekly pay of all employees in the bargaining unit. Dues deductions for employees entering the bargaining unit shall commence at the first full bi-weekly pay period. The Union shall inform the Employer, in writing, of the amount to be deducted for each employee.
(b) The Employer shall provide the Union with each employee's name, date of hire and date of first deduction within thirty (30) calendar days of hiring. The Employer shall provide to the Union a list identifying each employee and the deductions made on her/his behalf. If requested by the Union, the list will include the position, title, date of hire and hourly wage for the employee.
(c) The Employer and the Union agree that there shall be no discrimination by reason of Union membership or activity.
(d) All employees shall, as a condition of employment, join and maintain membership in the union, however, the Union agrees that it will not seek to have the Employer terminate an employee as a result of the employee=s failure to join the Union.
MEMBERSHIP AND CHECK-OFF. A representative of the Union, to be determined by the Local, shall be given the opportunity to provide orientation to each new employee at a mutually agreed time within regular working hours without loss of pay. Orientation shall be for a of thirty minutes during the first month of employment. The purpose of orientation shall be to acquaint each new employee with this Agreement and the responsibilities of Union membership. If possible. orientation shall take place on a group basis during the "new employee" orientation. At least for written warnings and more serious discipline, the disciplinary meeting shall be in two stages. In the first stage, the employee who may be subject to discipline will have the opportunity to provide any further explanation, supply additional facts, or describe mitigating circumstances. In the second stage, the Company will advise the employee of its decision. For each stage of any such meeting, the employee may request that a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ or Executive Member be present. The Company agrees to allow an Executive Member to attend with a new ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ if requested. Nothing in this clause prevents the Company from removing art employee from the workplace without a disciplinary meeting if the employee is disorderly or a danger to himself or others.
MEMBERSHIP AND CHECK-OFF. Upon written authorization from any employee, Union dues, which may include initiation fees, shall be deducted from wages and forwarded to the Union, monthly, in the employee's behalf. No authorization shall be allowed for payment of assessments or fines. The procedure followed in authorizing deduction shall be for each employee to execute a written assignment on the form furnished by the City. Dues shall be deducted in accordance with payroll periods. Payroll deductions shall be revocable at any time by the employee notifying the City and the Union in writing. Cancellation shall be effective thirty days after receipt of revocation notice. In the event the Union votes to change the dues formula, the Union shall notify the City at least thirty days prior to the effective date of increase and new authorization forms for each employee must be filed. The Union agrees to indemnify and hold the City harmless against any and all claims, suits, orders, or judgments brought, issued, or asserted against the City as a result of any action taken or not taken by the City under the provisions of this Article, If respective earnings are not sufficient to cover the full withholding, no deduction shall be made. In this connection, all legal and required deductions have priority over Union dues. Employees may authorize deductions from their pay for the following purposes: Credit Union Police and Fireman's Insurance Association (PFIA) International Association of Fire Fighters Financial Corporation Fire PAC check-off program Following the end of the term of this Agreement, employees will not be permitted to authorize a deduction unless there are at least ten (10) City employees who have authorized the same type of deduction.
