Mentor. A. Each bargaining unit member in his/her first three (3) years of experience or any member in his/her first year at Huron shall be assigned a mentor by the administration with the approval of the mentor. The mentor shall be a member. The mentor shall be available to provide professional support, instruction, and guidance. The purpose of the mentor assignment is to provide a peer who can offer assistance, resources, and information in a non-threatening collegial fashion. B. A teacher shall be assigned in the following manner: 1. The mentor shall be a tenured member with (3) years of experience in the Huron School District. 2. Participation as a mentor shall be voluntary. 3. The assignment as the mentor shall be finalized as soon as possible after the mentee begins work duties. 4. Every effort will be made to match the mentor and mentees who work in the same building and have the same area of certification. 5. Mentee shall be assigned to one (1) mentor at a time. A mentor may work with more than one mentee each year. 6. The mentor teacher assignment shall be for one (1) year subject to review by the mentor teacher and the mentee after three (3) months. The appointment may be renewed in succeeding years. C. Because the purpose of the mentor/mentee match is to acclimate the bargaining unit member and to provide necessary assistance toward the end of quality instruction, the Board and the Association agree the relationship shall be confidential. Neither the mentor teacher nor the mentee shall be permitted to participate in any matter related to the other. Further, the mentor teacher shall not be called as a witness in any grievance or administrative hearing involving the mentee nor shall the mentee be called as a witness in any grievance or administrative hearing involving the mentor teacher. Mentor For mentees in their first three (3) years of experience, mentor and Mentee mentee teachers shall each be granted one day or two half days of release time, to be sharedmeet together, per year for the purpose of work related to the mentee, the scheduling of which shall be with approval of the administration.
G. The District will furnish the Association with a list of the mentors and mentees.

(i) Probationary teachers in their first three (3) years of experience or any member in his/her first year at Huron the classroom shall be assigned a mentor by the administration with the approval of the mentorteacher. The mentor shall be a member. The mentor teacher shall be available to provide professional support, instruction, instruction and guidance. The purpose of the mentor assignment is to provide a peer who can offer assistance, resources, and information in a non-threatening collegial fashion.
B. A (ii) At a teacher’s request and subject to administrative approval a mentor teacher will be assigned to any teacher new to a grade level or a subject area that the teacher has not previously taught in White Cloud. This assignment shall be assigned in the following manner:
1. The mentor shall be a tenured member with (3) years of experience in the Huron School Districtfor at least one semester.
2. (i) Participation as a mentor teacher shall be voluntary. Mentors shall be selected from a list of volunteers by a building committee of two (2) district administrators and one (1) teacher appointed by the association.
3. The assignment as the mentor shall be finalized as soon as possible after the mentee begins work duties.
4. Every effort (ii) Efforts will be made to match the mentor teachers and mentees probationary teachers who work in the same building and have the same area of certificationgrade level or subject area, but shall not be required.
5. Mentee shall be assigned to one (1iii) mentor at a time. A mentor may work with more than one mentee each year.
6. The mentor Mentor/teacher assignment shall be for one (1) year school year, subject to review by renewal in subsequent years, if applicable. Upon request of the Mentor and/or Mentored Teacher, the building committee may reassign the mentor teacher and during the school year.
(iv) The mentor shall have no more than 2 mentees.
(v) Neither the mentor nor the mentee after three (3) months. The appointment may be renewed teacher shall participate in succeeding years.
C. Because the purpose supervision or evaluation of the mentor/mentee match is to acclimate the bargaining unit member and to provide necessary assistance toward the end of quality instruction, the Board and the Association agree the relationship shall be confidentialother. Neither the mentor teacher nor the mentee shall be permitted to participate in any matter related to the other. Further, the mentor Mentee teacher shall not be called as a witness in any grievance or administrative hearing case involving the mentee nor shall other except in the mentee be called as event of a witness in any grievance criminal or administrative hearing involving the mentor teachercivil case, or professional misconduct.
D. When (vi) Mentor assignments shall be made prior to the start of the school year after soliciting volunteers in the spring.
(i) Where possible, the mentor teacher and the mentee probationary teacher shall be assigned common preparation time. To be considered a mentor teacher, the tenured teacher shall be a member of the bargaining unit and must have consistently satisfactory evaluations.
E. Mentor teaches (ii) If no bargaining unit members volunteer for a mentor position, the Board can take steps to comply with the applicable state or federal laws with regard to assigning mentors and shall receive not be obligated to use Bargaining unit members until such time as a stipend of $300 per year for each mentee he/she is assigned tovolunteer(s) become(s) available.
F. e. Mentor and Mentee teachers shall be granted one day release time, to be shared, paid $27.25 per hour (2008-09); $27.50 per hour (2009-10); and $27.75 per hour (2010-11). The rate shall increase $0.25 per hour in each successive year for the purpose of work related to the mentee, the scheduling of which shall be with approval of the administrationagreement.
G. f. The District mentor teacher will furnish keep a record of his/her mentoring hours, and turn them into the Association with a list building principal by May 15th. Mentor teachers will be paid on the twenty-first pay of the mentors and menteesschool year.

(a) For each probationary teacher with zero years of teaching experience - Up to a maximum of 14 hours.
G. (b) For each probationary teacher with one year of teaching experience - Up to a maximum of 10 hours.
(c) For each probationary teacher with two years of teaching experience - Up to a maximum of 6 hours.
(6) The District mentor teacher will furnish keep a record of his/her mentoring hours, and turn them into the Association with a list building principal by May 15th. Mentor teachers will be paid on the twenty-first pay of the mentors and menteesschool year.
