Microsoft Updates. Microsoft releases updates for its software on an as needed basis. Your device is configured with Windows Software Update Services which will download updates to your device automatically. However, so that your device's resources will not be absorbed while you are working, the updates will not be installed without a command from the user. After updates have been downloaded, the user will be prompted to install those updates upon powering down the device. Since this will prolong the shutdown process, the user can choose to do the installation at a later time, but should never continually delay the installation.
