Minimum dimensions. The perforated pipe should be designed with a 12 inch minimum pipe diameter and a three 3 foot minimum trench width. The perforated pipe should be located within the trench section to minimize the accumulation of sediment in the aggregate void storage and maximize the preservation of this storage for stormwater treatment. To meet this goal, it is recommended that the perforated pipe be located at or within 6 inches of the trench bottom. The maximum trench width will be limited by the rate at which stormwater can effectively fill the void storage within the trench.
