MOVE UPS AND MOVE BACKS. Section 1. Vacancies shall be filled on the dates coinciding with the beginning with each workweek. Section 2. When a bus or rail operator is going to be out of service due to leave of absence or extended injury/illness that bus or rail operator's run shall be considered an open run until the next pick or the bus or rail operator returns to work. When a bus or rail operator has been out of service due to leave of absence or extended injury/illness and a pick is scheduled, the operator will be permitted to pick or a pick will be made for him by the Union board member or the Authority. That picked run shall be considered an open run until the bus or rail operator returns. When a bus or rail operator is going to be out of service due to leave of absence or extended injury/illness, that bus or rail operator's run will be placed on the extra board as a "hold down" for the duration of the vacation or extended injury/illness period. Section 3. If a pick is scheduled during the absence of the bus or rail operator, he/she will be permitted to pick or a pick will be made for him/her by the Union board member or the Authority. That picked run shall be offered as a "hold down" until the bus or rail operator returns. Section 4. Picking of "hold downs" shall coincide with the beginning of each workweek. The successful operator shall work the "hold down" for the duration of work available. When an Extra Board Operator is awarded a “hold down”, no additional work will be assigned to said operator except when the District is experiencing a shortage of operators and the operator has agreed in advance to such work.
